THE ORDER OF THE SACRED AND IMMACULATE HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY are a devout midwest Catholic community. Established in 1997 in Hopedale, Ohio (30 minutes from the Franciscan University of Steubenville), the Order is a private association of the faithful in the Diocese of Steubenville, Ohio. As a client I service as a freelancer, I have designed and produced their quarterly newsletter for over 4 years. The challenge with working with a conservative client is being able to find a balance when it comes to their design. Nothing is to be overly edgy, but at the same time should be engaging and embody a good clean design aesthetic. Focus is generally put on finding and utilizing appropriate imagery for impact in relation to the articles. The typography has evolved over time, but has always leaned toward use of appropriate modern fonts.
